Back To Balmain Day

Back to Balmain is an annual celebration of the local community with music, a sausage sizzle, local history and memorabilia. Back To Balmain is held on the last weekend of October and this year the weather remained smiling all day. It was great to meet some of the long time locals who talked to us about the club and passed on some valuable history for us. A special welcome was given to the  new Mayor, Darcy Byrne, of the new Inner West Council as he opened the proceedings and gave a short history of the day.

This year the Para Squad joined with the Open Men’s Squad to run the sausage sizzle and cake stall. The support from all members of the two squads was commendable. The Erg Challenge, run by the junior men was again a great success and several budding rowers were discovered with suggestions made by the Junior Men that they come down and try out their skill in a boat.

The weather was superb and allowed us to enjoy the whole day under clear skies, warm sun and the lightest of breezes to cool when needed.

Special thanks to the following for their efforts on the day – Ruby, Meg, Rose, Marco, Matthew, Scott, Chris, Anne, Anne, Stephanie, Stephen, Riley, Eoghan, Cian, Brian, Helena, Liam and those that couldn’t make it in person but sent cakes and sweets for sale – Caitlin, Nikolai and Patricia.

Anne, Rose and Liam await the crowds!

We served so many cakes, sizzled so many sausages and provided the liquid to quench those thirsts that we made just over $1,000 for the day. Wow !! What a day.
